Analytical models for the study of direction-selective mechanisms believed to be present in biological vision systems are proposed. Excitatory and inhibitory mechanisms are modeled. The interactions between the various model parameters are explicitly represented in the equations and illustrated with examples. A composite model that incorporates both mechanisms is proposed and shown to have promising characteristics |
