In this paper we propose the use of diversely polarised arrays in joint space-time channel estimation for DS-CDMA systems. The purpose is to utilise the polarisation information inherent in the received signal to improve the accuracy and resolution of the estimation and enhance its detection capability. To alleviate the need for searching in the 2D polarisation space, a computationally efficient subspace-based algorithm is proposed which provides a joint space-time estimate of the desired user in an asynchronous multipath environment. Its polarisation parameters, if required, can also be estimated analytically. |
