Title
Stable Move Algorithm (SMA) for BW allocation in wireless mobile WiMAX networks 802.16e
Abstract
Current wireless 4G networks as WiMAX (802.16 d and e) must guarantee quality-of-service (QoS) for fixed and mobile subscribers(SS's). Due to the unpredictable nature of the mobile users in 802.16e, it's challenging to maintain fairness and high bandwidth utilization concurrently while ensuring that QoS requirements are maintained for the different connections. As a user's location changes, so does his consumption of network resources. In this paper we are proposing the Stable-Move Algorithm (SMA) in which a fairness factor is adopted between different WiMAX cell regions. A scheme that will guarantee a fixed and stable connection rate regardless of the location of the mobile SS in the cell is proposed, in which a tradeoff between fairness, high bandwidth allocation and stable connection is maintained. Simulation results showed that our proposed scheme reduced the variance in the SS's connection delay when compared to other bandwidth allocation algorithms (BWA's), while at the same time providing fairness between SSs located in the different regions of the cell.
