This paper describes a scalable coder - G.711.1 - which has been standardized by ITU-T for wideband telephony and voice over IP applications. The main feature of this extension is to give wideband scalability to ITU-T G.711, the most widely deployed speech codec. G.711.1 is designed to achieve a very short delay and low complex- ity. ITU-T evaluation results show that the codec fulfils all the re- quirements defined in the terms of reference. |
