Title
Nearly-perfect reconstruction cosine-modulated filter bank applied to ECG signal coding
Abstract
This work considers the design of a electrocardiogram (ECG) signal coder based on nearly perfect reconstruction (N-PR) cosine modulated filter banks. The target of the coder is the quality of the reconstructed signal, which must remain within predetermined accuracy limits. We employ as quality criterion the percentage root-mean-square difference (PRD). The tests have been done for the twelve principal cardiac leads, and the amount of compression is evaluated by means of the mean number of bits per sample (MBPS) and the compression ratio (CR). The results confirm the validity of the proposed system.
