•General equations describing the dynamics of probability density function (pdf) for systems obeying the maximum of differential entropy principle are derived.•Equations describing the dynamics of pdf for systems obeying the maximum of differential entropy principle for special case of mass conservation and energy conservation constraints are derived.•Uniqueness of the limit pdf and asymptotic convergence is established•coincidence of the limit pdf with Gibbs distribution is shown.•Convergence of differential entropies is examined. |
