The experimental breakthrough of net gain for optical signals in a chromium-doped fiber amplifier (CDFA) is demonstrated. This leads to the possibility of functioning as broadband amplifiers for utilizing the entire transmission bandwidths from 1300-1600 nm of low-loss windows of silica fibers for next-generation optical communication systems. |
