Risk assessment of groundwater pollution using Monte Carlo approach in an agricultural region: An example from Kerman Plain, Iran
Abstract
•This research establishes a new framework for groundwater pollution risk assessment in agricultural areas.•Kriging method of interpolation was applied to show spatial distribution of nitrate.•A damage model was developed using modified DRASTIC and nitrate concentration.•Monte Carlo simulation was used for determining risk estimation uncertainty.•Risk assessment was performed using damage index and probability of pollution occurrence.
