Miniature Campaigns: The Impact Of Televised Debates Exemplified By The Tv Debate 2013 Between Angela Merkel And Peer Steinbruck |
Abstract | ||
---|---|---|
US-style televised debates have been introduced to German campaigns in 2002 when Gerhard Schrder and Edmund Stoiber agreed to hold two debates. Since then, debates have become an integral part of campaigns. We argue that these events are highly valued by the participating politicians, the broadcasting media, viewing voters, but also empirical social researchers. We also show how these "miniature campaigns" can be analyzed using the 2013 debate as an example. |
