Title
Knowledge acquisition for intelligent decision systems
Abstract
The combination of Decision Analysis and Expert Systems as Intelligent Decision Systems is proposed as a means of supporting strategic decision making. An approach to knowledge acquisition for such systems is to use a domain independent aid to acquire problem knowledge, including structure, directly from the decision maker. Influence Diagrams are proposed as a suitable means of representing domain knowledge and as a target structure for the elicitation of decision structures from text. The text analysis procedure goes some way towards a much needed emphasis on the process of model building rather than on model representation and solution.
