Title
On the benefits of delayed ordering.
Abstract
•We present the first analysis of (s, S) policies with delayed ordering when demand is compound.•We analyse policies with both constant and flexible delays and derive optimality conditions.•We numerically compare the cost performance of those policies with the standard case of no delays.•We provide insights into when the benefit of delaying orders is most pronounced, and when applying flexible delays is essential.
