In this paper we present a general approach to the discretization of analog signals and develop associated processing techniques for the suppression of noise. Based fundamentally on the theory of frames, our approach involves the specification and analysis of several operators including frame representation, correlation and localization operators. In terms of these operators, we develop theory for frame localization and iterative algorithms for the reconstruction of analog signals from their local, yet possibly perturbed, discrete representations. Our noise suppression technique is demonstrated numerically on noise corrupted time-frequency coherent signals using local nonorthogonal wavelet frames. |
