•We propose a case based retrieval approach to business process operational support.•We mine a tree structure from the log, allowing for a quick retrieval.•We provide the tree as input to a novel automaton-based query answering algorithm.•The tool allows to search for traces exhibiting complex query patterns.•The tool proved to be efficient in the experiments. |
