Title
Integrated QoS provisioning for unified LTE-WiMAX networks.
Abstract
The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) mandates the Next Generation Networks (NGN) to support seamless vertical as well as horizontal mobility; Quality of Service-(QoS) enabled transport, and ubiquitous provision of services to the users. In the current definition of their interfaces, the two 4G mobile broadband technologies (WiMAX and LTE) have introduced QoS mapping layers based on the dependency of the access technology. In this paper, a QoS framework is proposed to provide efficient and optimal traffic classification and end-to-end interoperability in a unified WiMAX-LTE network. We have simulated an integrated environment with WiMAX and LTE internetworking, and tested performance of the proposed framework by transmitting real-time (RT) and non-RT traffic, in isolated and mixed scenarios. Simulation results show that the proposed framework can provide end-to-end QoS support while satisfying the applicationsu0027 traffic requirements.
