The term NoSql was coined in order to unify numerous products that enable data persistence and access in rather different ways, compared to relational databases. This movement is mostly driven by modern web- and sensor-related applications, which have to cope with a high volume of very diverse data, stored in geographically separated systems. In this case study, we will show a NoSql's product practical use and its impact on 24alife solutions. They are aimed at improving citizens' wellbeing and stress management capabilities by integrating knowledge from different wellness disciplines. As such, it is designed to handle more than 6 billion new records every month. We will demonstrate via a case study how introducing an appropriate NoSql solution to this particular system improves performance, removes certain data handling obstacles and contributes to long-term system stability. |
