Title
Enabling Technologies for Real-time 50-Gbit/s Wireless Transmission at 300 GHz
Abstract
There has been a growing interest in the application of terahertz (THz) waves to broadband wireless communications. Particularly, use of THz waves at frequencies above 275 GHz is one of the big concerns among researchers, because these frequency bands have not yet been allocated for specific active services, and there is a possible opportunity to utilize extremely large bandwidths for ultra-broadband wireless communications. In this paper, we describe photonics-based approaches to realizing most practical and robust 300-GHz-band wireless links to meet and explore real-world applications at the earliest opportunity as a technology driver. We present enabling technologies for a real-time 50-Gbit/s transmission at over 20-m distance.
