This paper presents an easily implementable load control strategy aimed at managing shiftable loads in residential buildings, possibly equipped also with centralized storage and generation facilities. The algorithm is compliant with the KNX standard for communication of smart home devices, and ensures the controlled reduction of power peak profiles. Simulation results are discussed in details, comparing the achieved performances with the ones attainable by more complicated benchmark algorithms present in literature, and also giving a first assessment of the return on the investments needed to implement the proposed load control architecture. |
