Title
A Taxonomy on Dynamic Environments for Provider-Oriented Virtual Machine Placement
Abstract
This work proposed online formulations for the Virtual Machine Placement (VMP) problem from the providers' perspective, identifying the following dynamic parameters: . resource capacities of virtual machines (VMs) (vertical elasticity); . number of VMs of a service (horizontal elasticity); . utilization of resources of VMs (related to overbooking). Consequently, dynamic environments for online formulations of the provider-oriented VMP problem may be classified by one or more of the following classification criteria: (1) elasticity (vertical and horizontal) and (2) overbooking (server and network resources overbooking).
