Title
Magnetorheological Control for Seismic Response of Container Crane.
Abstract
This paper develops a new vibration control system on the basis of a seesaw mechanism with magnetorheological dampers to improve the seismic performance of container cranes. This mechanism fixed on the portal beam of the crane is connected with the portal leg by braces. So the seismic responses of container crane can be controlled easily by adjusting the force of MR dampers. The magnification factors of deformation and damping force with control system configuration is delivered. The time history of the portal legs displacements of without control, semi-active control, Passive-off and Passive-on control are presented. Simulation results exhibit that the seismic reduction effectiveness of semi-active control is best.
