Title
DataCon: Easier Data Sharing, Exploration, and Fusion with Automatic Metadata Generation.
Abstract
Data is now transforming the world. Individuals, organizations, companies and governments are rushing to build technologies that generate, manage and analyze ever-increasing amounts of data. The most valuable data applications often require fusing data from multiple sources. However, sharing data is a difficult and painful process. We propose a “DataCon” system that supports data sharing, exploration, and fusion between people using different software and different data formats. DataCons are data icons that contain structured metadata generated by Automatic Metadata Generation (AMG) algorithms. The Korean government is funding a three-year project with one million USD to develop a DataCon-based data sharing platform.
