Title
A Conceptual Model of is Competencies and is Capabilities for preventive Care Performance: a Resource based View.
Abstract
Chronic diseases are known as the main cause of poor health, disability, death, and account for mostof healthcare expenditures in developing countries. Thus, preventive care is identified as one of themost effective strategy to reduce the risk of chronic diseases and healthcare spending. Furthermore, the adoption of Hospital Information System (HIS) for preventive care is recognized to be animportant resource towards addressing the problem of the rising of the healthcare costs anddecreasing in quality of care. However, healthcare organizations do not consistently utilize theavailable resources for prevention of chronic diseases. The issues of underutilised resources, inadequate resources and inappropriate use of resources lead to lack of preventive care. Therefore, this study adopts both Resource Based View (RBV) and resource orchestration perspective to developa conceptual model to study the influence of IS resources in HIS adoption towards hospital preventivecare performance. This paper will contribute to the RBV theory, by applying resource orchestration asa theoretical lens to investigate complex interaction among IS resources towards organizationperformance and to provide important insights to the hospital management on how to resolve theissues concerning resources.
