Truss Structure Optimization Using Co-variance Based Artificial Bee Colony Algorithm.
Abstract
To minimize the weight or volume of the truss structures while satisfying all design constraints, is one of the main goal of truss optimization problems. In this paper we have proposed a novel co-variance based Artificial Bee Colony (ABC) algorithm for this structural optimization task. To gauge the effectiveness of our proposed algorithm we have tested it on well known bench-marked structural optimization problems. We have also compared the performance of our algorithm with some of the other well established structural optimization algorithms. The result shows that the proposed algorithm has outperformed other algorithms in evolving of optimal design of space structures. The present approach not only achieves the high quality desired optimal solutions but also takes fewer iterations to produce these solutions.
