Robust doa estimation and data detection for mobile communication in multipath environment
Abstract
A robust Direction of Arrival (DOA) estimation in multipath environment is proposed for efficient separation of coherent signals and data detection. The proposed method is applied for mobile communication system in the uplink direction by using Uniform Linear Array (ULA) in the receiver for the purpose of channel estimation and multipath effect rejection. Re-iterative Superresolution (RISR) DOA estimation algorithm is implemented first to estimate the DOA of incoming signals as well as to separate the coherent signals impinging from different directions, after that by applying the conventional beamforming separately for each estimated signal in a certain direction, a correlation between these signals is computed for time difference of arrival estimation, then by applying null-steering beamforming algorithm the desired signal can be received and the signals in other directions are rejected. The simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed method for removing the effect of multipath as well as for efficient data detection.
