We have developed Simple Web Editor Utilities (Sweetie), a simple lightweight web editor that is suitable for collaborative website authoring. In general, a syntax-highlighting editor helps learners notice mistakes. However, most computer systems in classrooms prohibit installing software. This may reduce the usability and efficiency of the exercise. To solve these issues, we have developed a web editor application that provides syntax highlighting, auto-indent and quick file/image upload functions. We have examined Sweetie in lectures using both local and remote server configurations. We have confirmed that Sweetie can reduce the problems associated with web authoring, particularly for novice learners. |
