Title
Integrating IoT to manufacturing processes utilizing semantics
Abstract
Current trends in the manufacturing environment drive towards decentralized distributed systems and the dissolution of traditional rigid hierarchical schemes. Multi Agent Systems (MAS) can be utilized to this end increasing the autonomy and flexibility in the industrial environment. The Internet of Things (IoT) maps also well with these trends offering solutions to increase the levels of flexibility, agility, and dependability. The present work presents an approach for integrating IoT to a MAS based manufacturing environment - semantically enriching the relevant ontology - and its validation through a Hardware-in-a-Loop simulation utilizing a gamification platform.
