Abstract
•The performance of the recent feature descriptors for MSER is evaluated.•Ten state-of-the-art descriptors were tested under various scenes.•LIOP and RFDg generally outperformed the other descriptors in our experiments.•SURF is a reasonable solution for MSER in real-time applications.
