•Joint sparse signal reconstruction is used to estimate respiratory rate from the PPG.•Two methods are proposed to fuse the sparse spectra to estimate respiratory rate.•The algorithms have been tested on a public benchmark database CapnoBase.•The algorithms works well with a low sampling frequency of 10Hz. |
