Abstract
•We present a 5-year research-through-design study that explores ICT use by older people.•We discuss common assumptions in the discourse of designing ICT for older people.•We introduce a turn to community to re-think the field of HCI and ageing.•Community, infrastructuring and appropriation are key elements of the turn.
