•A novel local fitted image is proposed to approximate the square of the original image based on the LBF and LIF models.•A novel active contour model is proposed by constructing a local hybrid image fitting energy.•Segmentation results demonstrate that our model is better than several typical models in terms of accuracy and computational effectiveness. |
