•Attribute profile based feature space discriminant analysis (APFSDA) is proposed.•FSDA is developed for spectral-spatial classification of hyperspectral data.•Attribute filters are applied on the most appropriate components for classification purposes.•APFSDA uses the advantages of MLR for classification.
