Measuring non-administration of ordered medications in the pediatric inpatient setting.
Abstract
•This study uses Health Information Technology to assess the quality of the medication process at an institutional level.•To our knowledge, this is the first study of its kind conducted at a sizable pediatric healthcare institution.•Such studies may unravel unknown gaps, and may spawn further studies of sub-processes and locales within an institution.•Such studies help to establish baseline performance data for medication process, allowing comparison between organizations.
