Title
Economic Analysis Of Nuclear Power Plant'S Operation Modes In Power System With High Wind Integration'
Abstract
In the power system with high wind penetration, the wind power is usually not accommodated completely by flexible resources due to the fluctuations of wind power, and the problem of abandoned wind power has become more severe. The nuclear power plant (NPP) has taken a great proportion in power generation in many countries and it can technically operate in load following mode to take part in wind power accommodation. So this paper proposes a two-stage stochastic optimization model of unit commitment to compare the total cost of system operation and the abandoned wind power when the NPP operates in base load mode and load following mode respectively in the simulated scenarios of wind power output, and the results of a case study in the modified IEEE 14 bus system prove that it's more economical to operate the NPP in load following mode to take part in wind power accommodation.
