Abstract
•Technical documentation in Industry 4.0 is becoming more visual than textual.•Most frequent maintenance actions were converted into 2D graphical symbols.•We created a vocabulary of graphical symbols to be used in Augmented Reality.•We integrated the vocabulary in a remote maintenance support application.
