Title
SuperFlex: Network Slicing based Super Flexible 5G Architecture
Abstract
One-size-fits-all philosophy based current cellular networks significantly restrict the proliferation of new services and its agile provisioning. Diverse service requirements in terms of bandwidth, latency, and error-rate need customized signaling and data plane management. The monolithic network architecture that treats all devices and flows equally, undermines the optimal resource usage and severely impacts the network manageability. We propose SuperFlex, a network slicing based multi-domain 5G wireless network architecture that provides tailor-made treatment to subscribers (and its devices) without escalating the capital and operating expenses. The layered slicing architecture of SuperFlex provides economies of scale and great flexibility by enabling many-to-many mapping of slices from different domains. The extensible and scalable SuperFlex design facilitates agile service provisioning, simplified network management, and optimized resource utilization.
