Abstract
•Classify of noncircular signal types by orthogonality between subspaces in conjunction with 1-D search method.•The uncorrelated noncircular components are eliminated without removing coherent signal information.•A denoising spatial smoothing technique, which makes the most of the information of coherent signals, is developed.•An approach to the refinement of coherent signal estimation is proposed.•New deterministic Cramer–Rao lower bound is derived for the considered mixture model.
