•Fault identification is provided by the aggregation of several top Fault isolation approaches and an OWA operator.•The fault identification gives a scored ranking for the candidate variables that may be responsible for the fault.•This aggregation is tuned by the user, according to his/her own admissible risk in the multicriteria decision making.•The identification is carried out at two time points using two time-windows: ahead of fault detection and when the plant is again steady. |
