Multi-access Edge Computing (MEC) converges telecommunications and cloud technology at the Radio Access Network (RAN). Taking the advantages of telecom cloud MEC allows rapid content processing at the very edge of the mobile network, delivering real-time services. The research is aimed to further develop the MEC potential for improving RAN performance parameters. The idea is to monitor UE connectivity parameters and to trigger a change of used radio technology as earlier as possible. With moving the connectivity management logic in MEC, data flows do not reach the core network. The paper proposes an extension of Radio Network Information Application Programming Interface (API) for connectivity management. The proposed APIs are described by information flows, data and behavioral models. |
