•We define a new problem, “The Weber obnoxious facility location model” and present numerous potential applications and extensions.•We present a new geometric solution strategy: Big Arc Small Arc (BASA).•For the Manhattan distance we identify afinite dominating set.•We present extensive numerical results which show that the problem can be solved efficiently.•We also compare our approaches. |
