We present a novel integrated miniature headstage for high-density closed-loop optogenetics studies with the highest published channel count to date. The headstage performs optical stimulation and electrical neural recording through a monolithically integrated electrode with 12 or 32 μLEDs and 32 recording sites. The electronic back-end consists of a custom 48-channel LED driver IC capable of real-time individual channel control at 10-bit optical power precision and a 32-channel off-the-shelf neural recording IC. The systemu0027s functionality was proven in vivo through high-precision neuronal stimulation in a mouse hippocampus. |
