•A new control chart for time and magnitude monitoring is introduced.•Renewal reward process is assumed to study the damage caused by shocks.•For magnitude, we consider cumulative and non-cumulative cases over time.•The proposed charts are also compared to the existing so-called rate charts.•Our proposal is a generalization of the existing time and magnitude charts. |
