Title
Rolling-Shutter-Based Optical Camera Communication Using Distributed LED Array.
Abstract
In order to increase communication distance and throughput for rolling-shutter (RS)-based optical camera communication (OCC), distributed LED array composed of 8 × 8 small chip-LEDs is used as a transmitter. Symbol synchronization using the distributed LED array is achieved at 5287.9 symbols per second (sps) with 8-element LEDs in the column direction when 30-flame-per-second (fps) image sensor works in RS mode as a receiver. Moreover, error free performance with bit error rate (BER) of less than 10 −6 is achieved at a communication distance of 0.8 meter using 8 × 8 distributed LED array. Total throughput in RS mode is increased by five times more than the throughput using spatial multiplexing only in global shutter (GS) mode.
