Abstract
•A novel method for plant wide oscillation detection is proposed.•Mode alignment property of multivariate empirical mode decomposition and a grouping algorithm is employed.•The proposed method is used to group plant variables oscillating with similar frequency.•The proposed method can work with non-stationary plant data.•The approach doesn’t require a priori assumption about the underlying process dynamics.
