Title
Potential analyses for dynamic rating optimization on basis of four years of operational experience in Austria.
Abstract
The paper presents the results of the potential analyses for dynamic rating optimization on the basis of five years operational experience in Austria. The results are shown for two exemplary overhead lines in APG’s grid, both with approx. 100 km length of route. One line is located in a mountainous landscape where the weather conditions along the line can widely vary. Another line is located in a flat landscape where the changes of wind speed and ambient temperature along the line are smaller. Because APG tried to minimize the number of weather stations, the weather conditions have to be estimated conservatively along the lines from weather data measured in two substations per line only. Therefore, factors for reducing the wind speed and offset values for increasing the ambient temperature are used.
