Title
Exploring robustness management of social internet of things for customization manufacturing.
Abstract
The interactions between enterprise systems (ESs) are unsatisfactory in numerous cases, which has a significant impact on the robustness of social internet of things (SIoT) for customization manufacturing (CM). In this paper, we present a novel methodology for managing the robustness of SIoT in the CM environment from a complex systems standpoint. First, this methodology decomposes SIoT into multiple ESs, determines the state variables of those ESs, and dissects the interactions between them. Second, it develops a nonlinear dynamic model along with algorithms revealing the bottom-up operation mechanisms of SIoT and identifying the threshold conditions in integration continuum for the SIoT to achieve a robust operation. Finally, extensive numerical experiments and an application involving manufacturing supply chains are given to illustrate this new methodology. The overall results suggest that interoperability and low incompatibility outperform high incompatibility and tightly-coupled integration in improving the robustness of SIoT under the CM paradigm.
