Driver for 3D-integrated nonlinear microring resonator-based optical modulators
Abstract
This paper presents a driver circuit intended for optical modulators based on 3D-integrated ring resonators. The circuit was designed in a 0.35μm BiCMOS technology and the measurements are performed on the electrical test chip. The driver delivers 3-V voltage swing while consuming 160 mW at a data-rate of 10 Gb/s. The driver is suitable for NRZ binary as well as PAM-4 modulation formats.
