Title
Multiband Lte-A, Wifi Ac, And 4-Pam Baseband Simultaneous Transmission Over 50 M Thick-Core Pof For In-Home Network
Abstract
We demonstrated the simultaneous transmission of multiband LTE-A signals, a WiFi IEEE802.11ac and a gigabit/s baseband 4-PAM signal over 1mm core diameter PMMA GI-POF. The optical link used a red light 650 nm laser diode and a p-i-n photodiode with a transimpedance amplifier. The 4-PAM transmission achieved 1.7 Gb/s (BER < 1x10(-3)), together with 9 LTE-A standard-compliant bands with EVM < 8%. Furthermore, an IEEE 802.11ac standard-compliant signal with 80MHz bandwidth and 64-QAM modulation order was received with EVM < -27 dB. The multiband LTE-A waveform was chosen as 5G-like signal and transmitted transparently with a radio-over-fiber technique. Digital filtering was employed on both the transmitter and receiver sides to improve the spectrum allocation of the 4-PAM and LTE-A signals. The WiFi ac standard was picked due to its growing popularity in the home network market and high throughput. The WiFi signal was sent with intermediate-frequency radio over fiber technique in order to fit the link bandwidth. Optimization of the IF frequency enabled negligible mutual interference between the radio signals. The POF link reached the length of 50m, thus resulting in a reliable and inexpensive solution for creating in-home heterogeneous networks.
