Title
Microring-Assisted All-Optical Sub-Channel Demultiplexing For Dense Im/Dd Access With Low-Complexity Optical Network Unit
Abstract
Optical access promises high data throughput for the wired and wireless segment. Especially the use of wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) enables the aggregation of massive capacities. The continuously increasing density of communication terminals per network demands ultra-dense WDM architectures, while subsystems for the insertion and extraction of channels are to be performed cost-effectively.In this work we experimentally demonstrate all-optical demultiplexing of 2.5GHz-spaced WDM sub-channels using a silicon-on-insulator microring resonator. Down-and uplink transmission is shown over a loss budget of 28 dB using direct detection and low-frequency baseband electronics.
