In this article, we analyze the performance of LMS (Least Mean Square) adaptive filter in the context of dual polarization coherent optical receivers. We consider the penalty in presence of polarization-dependent loss (PDL), as well we studied the tracking of fast state-of-polarization (SOP) in presence of both PDL and optical filtering. The trade-offs between tracking capability and back to back required OSNR (optical signal to noise ratio) when choosing the step size is illustrated as well. |
