Cloud computing infrastructures are in the spotlight of modern computer science. They offer flexibility and on-demand resource provisioning. The automatic scalability feature enables cloud-based systems to seamlessly adjust to the constantly changing environment of the Internet. Despite their usefulness there is still much space for improvements. In this paper we introduce an approach to automatic infrastructure scaling, based on observation of business-related metrics. An implementation of a tool based on this concept, using the previously developed SAMM system, is also presented. Finally, we discuss evaluation results. |
