Title
Opportunities, Threats and Future Directions in Big Data for Medical Wearables
Abstract
Big data term has started to take part in our lives as a result of advanced technologies that produce unprecedented amount of data. Big data management has a critical role on smart decision making, new product developments and optimized offerings. Wearable devices and Internet of Things (IoT) devices are constantly adding more to this data, creating a crucial need for efficient storage, processing and analysis tools. These devices are used in many different areas including health, fitness, and entertainment. If we focus on health area, there are some medical wearable devices for tracking of cardiovascular, glaucoma, diabetes diseases etc. Literature presents a huge number of methods, algorithms and platforms which are carried on big data to manage and analyze it effectively. This paper aims to present a review of the developments in big data and wearable devices, and provide the state-of-the art approaches and developments on them. We summarize current challenges as well as defining new ones and then suggest solutions for these challenges.
